Today I thought I would write a little about my newest novel The Night Room.
But first a little about me, the author...
I've always had a passion for the written word and have spent countless hours reading books, I am and forever will be book obsessed.
Though it was until very recently that I decided to dust off those manuscripts I'd so hastily written six years ago, and taking a chance on them - and on myself.
After hours of second guessing, editing, reading, rereading and formatting, I finally got up the nerve to self publish.
It's hard work and nerve-racking to say the least but I'm super proud of myself for taking the plunge. And not only have I successfully published The Night Room, but also two other Young Adult Fiction novels (Rockstars & Photographs, The Enchanted - Melody Book 1), a short story (Crash) and children's book (I Wonder...Kindy) - all in the space of one year!
So now you know about me...
What about The Night Room you ask?
The Night Room follows the lives of a guardian angel Mason, a human girl Aidan, and a fallen angel Riley.
Mason is Aidan & Riley's guardian angel and she loves her job for the most part. But sadly Riley has succumbed to his darker side and see's the world only through jaded and bitter eyes - his hate grows ever increasing. Mason is forced to distance herself from Riley and finds herself immersed into the life of Aidan, just a normal human girl with a passion for music and Ice Hockey.
Mason has the chance to vicariously live through Aidan and enjoys her time with Aidan so much, she barely leaves her side, if only to occasionally check on Riley, but there is no change in his attitude.
Mason feels as if life could not get any better when tragedy strikes. Aidan and her family are killed in a car accident, but Mason cannot bear to let Aidan go. She makes a life changing decision in that moment, she gives up her wings and saves Aidan's life.
Aidan recovers slowly from the accident and wonders just how she survived, why she had lived and her family had not - she didn't want to be here without them. She has no idea what will happen to her now and thinks things could not possibly get any worse....that was before she arrived at Gryffyn & Thorne.
Gryffyn & Thorne is a group home for orphaned kids and as Aidan isn't yet old enough to be on her own, she has ended at GT, as the locals like to call it. It is here she discovers a hidden world and Riley.
With the burden of her family's death's weighing heavy on her, Aidan wonders just how can she live with the pain of it, it's unbearable...until she meets Riley, a fallen angel with a hate for the world.
Together they each battle their inner demons, and an unbreakable bond forms. With each other to rely on, things start looking a little brighter, hopeful almost, that Riley & Aidan will each survive their own personal hell.
But death has other plans...he does not like to be thwarted and stalks Aidan with a savageness, living up to his reputation.
